About the Floribean Cook

I was born and raised in New York. Later in life I moved to Florida. I am of Puerto Rican, Cuban and Italian decent. I have been working in the restaurant business for most of my life and have owned a few along the way. Recently I became aware of the fact that as my elders passed away their recipes passed with them. I call these recipes “Heirloom Recipes” I am dedicating this site to saving recipes from extinction and sometimes adding a modern twist to them. If you have a family recipe you would like me to post, send it to me and I will review it and maybe I’ll give you a fresh new version of your “Heirloom Recipe”.

Thank you for visiting,

Renee

Please add more recipes. Your bean recipe was EXACTLY like my grandma’s!! I remember making it to this day!! Everything was correct!! It’s the first I’ve ever seen just like hers ever!! I love it!! I’m Puerto Rican and Italian too so we love food!!

Enjoyed looking at all the recipes! Carne Guisada looks great-especially the all time favorite of the family is Empandas-(meat Turnovers).

Great site, great recipes, Renee. I haven’t had spanish food in a while so it kinda makes me hungry for the latin cuisine. Especially the bacaloa con bionda. Take care and again awesome website.
